
START II Ratification a Priority in Russian-U.S. Dialogue

[FBIS Transcribed Text] Moscow April 4 TASS -- "The ratification 
of the Treaty on the Limitation and Reduction of Strategic Offensive Weapons 
(START-2) and the perpetuation of the ABM agreement are among the priorities 
of the Russo-American political dialogue," Nikita Matkovskiy, representative 
of the Russian Foreign Ministry's information and press directorate, said 
here today.
"The emergence of strike space weapons, the development of which 
is urged today by some, putting it mildly, irresponsible people in the 
United States, would endanger the process of nuclear disarmament," the 
diplomat said. Hence, the Russian Foreign Ministry deems it necessary 
to secure the urgent ratification of the START-2 treaty and the perpetuation 
of the ABM agreement.
